Water Softener and Drinking Systems

We requested a whole house plumbing inspection from L D Smith Plumbing. We were concerned we may have a leak. Mason Cooley was our plumber. He looked at showers, soaker tubs, 9 sinks, water heater, and washer hookup. He turned on every water source, got into cabinets to check drains for leaks, and photographed everything. To be completely thorough, he inspected 3 exterior spigots and made a long 150 foot crawl to check 2 sump pumps in the crawl space. He was knowledgeable and very personable. For the most part all fixtures, lines and drains were good. He did detect one area needing attention but did not try to "sell" us anything. We will likely be moving forward with repairs as he had noted. We have used L D Smith several times and are always satisfied.

L.D. Smith provided an excellent experience from start to finish, from booking to confirmation to completing the work. The plumbers they sent were friendly, professional, and very informative throughout the service call. They took the time to explain what they had done and answered all my questions before leaving. I also appreciated how they made sure everything was cleaned up when the job was finished. Their quality workmanship and customer service really stood out. I highly recommend L.D. Smith for both small plumbing repairs and larger plumbing projects.

David was very prompt to respond to a leak in the copper piping leading from our water heater; he did a great job of explaining the issue and summarizing the repairs afterwards. He was great about partnering with our Home Warranty company who was reimbursing us for the work. Very happy to have received a quick and friendly service.

Our gas hot water heater stopped working last Sunday and we have been dealing with our home warranty company without success Our hot water heater was still under warranty and I called LD Smith 3 days later about replacing our water heater under the factory warranty. Mason and AJ came out the next day gave us an estimate for the installation and we were back online in just a few hours. They even used another employee to pick up and deliver the new hot water heater, so they could keep working to remove the old one Great experience. We've used them before and we will use them again.

LD Smith replaced our clay tile sewer line via pipe burst in Jan 2026. This is a high-functioning team. Great service, communication, and very competitive pricing. Sewer Line Assessment Joe conducted a thorough assessment of our sewage system, showed genuine curiosity in understanding some peculiarities (which no plumber had done before), and even got in both crawlspaces with me to answer some of my questions. In addition, he was knowledgeable (from my viewpoint), and straightforward. Fielded my follow-up calls, questions, and requests with patience and detail. Great start. Estimate No pushing, no BS. The estimate came in far more reasonable compared to the other local competitors. I was shocked. Sewer Line Replacement A 3-person team (Trevor, Mark, and Russell) conducted the work. All were on-time, communicative, courteous, and professional. I appreciated Trevor on his own initiative called out the utilities again to verify their path was clear. No issues to date with the new line.

Mason originally came to conduct an annual maintenance assessment. He identified a small leak in our water heater and suggested we keep an eye on it. He also addressed a concern we had about the garbage disposal. He tightened some screws and again suggested we keep an eye on it. No pressure at all. He did provide quotes to address both potential issues. The leak in the water heater grew progressively worse. I called other professional plumbing companies and did not find anyone that would save us much over what LD Smith quoted. We reached out and Mason was on-site the same day and did an excellent job. What spoke to me over and above his professionalism was the positive way Mason spoke of his employer. He said LD Smith was a great place to work and he feels fortunate to work for them. I think LD Smith is great too and they are lucky to have an associate like Mason! Thank you both!

We had a wonderful experience with Mason. He checked out our sump pump and water softener and replaced our water heater. He was very polite and respectful and kept us informed along the way. No complaints at all — he did a great job! Nick was also here assisting, and he was great as well.

I had a superlative experience with L.D. Smith on an exterior water main shut-off replacement and internal shut-off valve replacement and repair. This was performed through a UtilityShield claim (now run through HomeServe). First things first... I tried other companies, and even big names (aka Gluf Plumbing), thought that repairing a water shut off in the water main pit wasn't "code" or "frowned upon" by Citizens Energy. This is simply not true. Second, L.D. Smith managed to work with HomeServe, so they must have the patience of a saint. Home warranty companies are nearly universally bad in my experience. Third - and most importantly - both the folks L.D. Smith sent out were timely, professional, and broke things down to me in a way I could understand. Last, if you have a commercial repair, I would give these people your money over other folks in town, that's for sure.

Very positive experiences this week with 3 visits from L.D. Smith plumbers. First, Tim came out regarding a slow floor drain. He was thorough and helpful in explaining my options. Next, Jacob was here to replace the kitchen faucet and one of the water shutoff valves. His work was great and he gave extra effort in his cleanup of the existing hard water stains. 2 days later Tim returned with Mark to perform the drain cleaning. Their work was excellent. Mark then stayed to talk over some other plumbing concerns in my 100 year old house and was very helpful. He followed up by emailing estimates for each of these. It is a good feeling to know where to turn for plumbing issues.
