We offer the following services to remove clogged drains:

  • Expert advice - L.D. Smith Plumbing has a team dedicated to clogged drains. Our highly trained team of plumbers provide the best recommendation based on the severity of the problem.
  • Camera inspection - L.D. Smith Plumbing relies on this technology to not only find blockages but also to rule out any other plumbing issues before recommending a service plan.
  • Drain clearing - Drain clearing, also known as drain unclogging, is an easy fix to unclogging a drain. The problem doesn’t go away, but it gets water moving the job done temporarily.
  • Drain cleaning - The source of the blockage is removed. If there are smells and frequent toilet or sink backups the need for a drain cleaning is more immediate.
  • Hyro jetting - Over time, drain snaking and other common drain-clearing methods are no longer effective. This is when hydro jetting is recommended. A jetter is attached to a water source and pushed through the drain line. Water is essentially sprayed through the line at a pressure of up to 4000 psi to remove the blockage, essentially pressure washing your drain or sewer line.

We provide services in Indianapolis and surrounding areas, including Brownsburg, Broad Ripple, Fishers, Carmel, Plainfield, Noblesville, and Avon.

What causes your drain line to clog?

Tree roots

Tree roots can stretch in search of moisture, which could cause big problems for your pipes and sewer line. Sometimes the roots can penetrate the line and block water flow.

Grease and oil

It is never a good idea to dispose of grease, fats, and oils down your drain. When done repeatedly, over time these items will harden and clog your drain.

Disposing of products such as tampons, wipes, and other items not designed to break down properly in your drain line can get stuck and block water flow.

What are the signs of a clogged drain?

  • Gurgling sounds coming from the drain or toilet
  • Water rises into your floor drain when you flush the toilet
  • Water is slow to drain out of the shower or bathtub

Should I choose a drain cleaning or drain clearing?

Often customers opt for a temporary solution when clogged drains do not affect their daily routine. If there are smells and frequent toilet or sink back-ups the need for a drain cleaning is more immediate.

While a short-term solution might be less costly, it’s important to know the blockages remain in your pipes and will cause larger problems over time. The longer you have the problem, the higher the risk for an even greater expense. There’s also a high risk of the clog causing problems at the most inconvenient time.
